Students are working very hard to be Respectful, Organized, Awesome, Responsible, and Safe.  Our class has earned 47 tickets towards out next reward.

Vocabulary Skill:  Context Clues/Multiple Meaning Words

Comprehension Skill:  Main Idea/Details

Main story:  Ecology for Kids

Genre:  Informational Text      

Vocabulary:  organisms, directly, vast, habitats, variety, affect, traces, species, banned, radiation

Students are enjoying our Daily 5 literacy stations.  These stations include: Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work, Listen to Reading, and Work on Writing.


Math

In Math, we are finishing our chapter on Divison.  Area and Perimeter will be covered next.  Students should practice multiplication facts daily!

Spelling

Sitton Test:  Thursdays

Core Words:  round, dark, past, ball, girl

Phonics Skill:  'ou' and 'ow' sound (round, loud, now, down)        

Grammar/Writing

In Grammar, we are learning about Prepositions.  A preposition is a word that shows how a noun/pronoun is connected to other words in the sentence.

In writing, students are learning how to use interesting vocabulary and sensory details to create a visual picture in their reader's mind.  We continue to work on persuasive writing.

Indiana History/Science

In Indiana History, we learned about Indiana's road to statehood.  We also explored Indiana's involvement in the Civil War. 

In Science, students used their knowledge of energy to create an Energy Robot.  We are now focusing on electrical energy and how it can be transformed into heat, light, and sound.
